Thank
you for visiting the website of Presidio Hill School.
Since 1918, Presidio Hill School has been
keeping the flame of child-centered education burning in San Francisco.
The
community of teachers, parents, and staff are all committed to developing the unique
characteristics of each child; sending him or her off to high school, college
and adulthood with a firm grounding in academic pursuits, an ability to think
clearly, a desire to work with others, and a joie de vivre that embraces
continued learning.
When
we ask graduates, their parents, teachers, and even high school personnel about
our students, we hear that they love learning. They have found their own unique voices and are creative and confident
in using them. They are remarkably
self-aware, knowing their own strengths and weaknesses and what interests they
wish to pursue. They know how to meet
their needs and how to advocate for themselves and others. Our graduates are builders of community,
willing to take on responsibilities in order to make things happen. They tend to ask good questions in their
pursuit of understanding, not content with mere memorization. They have compassion for others.
Turning
out students with this kind of profile does not happen by accident. Thoughtful, creative, and caring teachers guide,
inspire, and lead students on their paths to maturity. Teachers listen carefully to student voices, drawing
from their rich backgrounds in progressive pedagogy to respond to each child’s
needs.
Parents
often note that it’s not only the educational philosophy and teaching style
that bring them to Presidio Hill School, it’s the community of families. The
welcoming parent body, mirroring the diversity of San Francisco, is equally
committed to the school and its children. People enjoy working together, either on community events, fundraisers, or in helping out the teaching staff.
I
invite you to explore our website to learn more and gain a better appreciation
for what Presidio Hill School has to offer your child and family.
Best wishes,
Scott Duyan
