The Learning Support Services team at Presidio Hill School provides the following:
Curricular Support
- Classroom, teacher and student observations
- Implementation of accommodations
Student Support
- Small group instruction in grades TK–2
- Classroom-based support in grades 3–8
- Individual and small group sessions focused on planning, organization, tracking, time management and study skills in grades 6–8
Screening
- In TK & K for language-based learning differences
- In fall of third grade for achievement in reading, spelling, math
- In spring of fifth grade for achievement in reading, spelling, math
- Individual students referred by teachers to determine appropriate recommendations and interventions for the family
Case Management
- Keeping up-to-date records on testing, tutoring and intervention strategies for students with learning differences; communication with teachers regarding this information
- Communication with outside specialists supporting students
- Consulting with parents
- Providing referrals to families for outside services such as assessment, occupational therapy, speech and language therapy, tutoring, educational therapy
- Screening/interviewing potential outside support professionals
- Interpreting standardized test results
- Reviewing/analyzing student portfolios
