How to Apply for Admission
Admissions Process / Checklist
- Schedule a parent/guardian tour or attend an open house. You receive an application during your tour or open house.
- Schedule a play date or visit day for your child. If you are applying to kindergarten through fifth grade, we will contact you to schedule your child’s play date or visit after we receive your application. If you are applying to sixth through eighth grade, we encourage your child to visit before applications are due (February 4, 2008). Your child can visit any time, even if you have not submitted a middle school application.
- Complete the application and return it, along with the $75 application fee, to the admissions office. Please check the fee waive box at the top if your financial circumstances so warrant.
- Give the confidential ‘Student Evaluation Form’ to your child’s current teacher so that the teacher can complete and return the form to the admissions office.
- Complete and return the middle school student application (if applying for sixth through eighth grade).
- Give the ‘Record Release Form’ (applicants for second through eighth grade) to your child’s current school so that the school can send these records directly to our admissions office.

Kindergarten applicants attend a play date at the school on Saturday, January 26 or Monday, January 28 for a little over an hour. While the children are enjoying their play date, parent/guardian(s) have another chance to ask more questions of our staff. You will be contacted to schedule your child's play date once we receive your application.
First grade applicants visit together in the kindergarten classroom for about an hour. Once we receive your child's application, we will notify you about the group visit date and time.
Applicants to second through fifth grade visit for the school day in their current grade. Your child gets a ‘buddy’ for the day to make sure she/he feels included and welcomed. Applicants take a short reading test with a teacher during their visit.
Applicants to sixth through eighth grade visit in their current grade and have a ‘buddy’ for the day. Middle school applicants can visit before applying to the school. They are also required to attend the middle school applicant assessment from 9:00 A.M. through noon on Saturday, February 9, 2008. Applicants participate in group games, interview with a PHS staff member, and complete math, reading, and writing samples. Admissions Decisions
Decisions are made by an Admissions Committee consisting of teachers and administrators. The Admissions Committee’s job is to admit students for whom Presidio Hill School is a good fit.
