Aside from its ongoing activities, such as Friday Curbside Coffee and Soup for Teachers, the Parent & Guardian Association organizes and runs numerous special events throughout the school year:
Spirit Morning
Held on the first day of school, Spirit Morning is the kick-off event of the school year.
The PGA executive committee, school administrators, board members and room
parents welcome new and veteran parents to a continental breakfast, where they
can socialize with friends, meet new families and sign up for volunteer
opportunities.
Fall Gathering
This is
the first all-school weekend event of the year. On an afternoon in September,
families, teachers and administrators gather in beautiful Golden Gate Park for
a potluck lunch, music, arts-and-crafts, and old-fashioned games and
activities.
Walkathon
Taking place on a weekday morning in the fall, this student-centered fundraiser involves all Presidio Hill School students in collecting sponsorships to walk—or run—laps in Julius
Kahn Park.
Book Fair
Held
at a local bookstore in the late fall, this is a festive evening for friends and
families of Presidio Hill School. A portion of all sales generated during Book Fair is used to
support the school.
Grandparents &
Special Friends Day
This late-autumn event invites grandparents and
special friends of all Presidio Hill School students to visit the school. These special guests
are treated to a lively morning of refreshments, classroom visits and school
presentations.
PHS Game Night
A relaxed evening of games, refreshments, socializing and community. All Presidio Hill School
students and parents are welcome to come and play.
Graduation Breakfast
Hosted by the seventh grade in honor of the graduating eighth
graders, this event is held in the spring before graduation.
May Festival (May Fest)
The
oldest tradition at Presidio Hill School, May Fest is held on the first Sunday in May and
brings the entire school together to celebrate poetry and the performing arts.
The day starts with outdoor performance by students, followed by a potluck lunch and carnival
games.
Staff Appreciation Luncheon
Held in the spring to honor and show appreciation for all
teachers and staff members.
The PGA also helps to recruit parent volunteers for the following all-school events:
Follies
One of
the most beloved events of the year, Follies is an all-student musical review held in
the December. The graduating eighth graders write the show, parents collaborate
on costumes, and all grades participate in the lively, entertaining musical
numbers.
The Annual Auction
This important fundraiser is held each spring and is designed as a special night for adults only. Parents, faculty, staff and friends of PHS gather for an evening of food, fun and fellowship while raising funds to support the school. Read more about the Auction.
