I find myself daydreaming about an anticipated summer vacation in Kauai and imagine you have begun making plans for your child’s summer. Let me tell you what will be going on at PHS this summer.
I am excited to announce our partnership with Camp Edventure More! this summer. Camp Edventure More! is an innovative enrichment camp featuring fun, hands-on activities designed by the Exploratorium, California Academy of Sciences, Museum of Children’s Art and the YMCA. Kids entering kindergarten-fifth grades learn while they play and play while they learn, as they rotate through science, fine arts, and recreation activities. This year’s creative themes include Incredible Edibles, Game Inventors, Jurassic Journey, Pet Monsters and more. Kids also learn about cooperation, teamwork, confidence, generosity, kindness and respect through recreation games. Camp begins and ends with silly camp songs, games, and skits. Week-long sessions run June 19–August 4. Brochures will be available in our lobby or you can also visit their web site.
Presidio Hill's summer camp program, available to students entering first-fifth grades, will run for one week when school first lets out and again just before school resumes. The sessions are June 12–16 and August 7–25. The program will be similar in style to our holiday camps, featuring cross age activities involving art, drama, cooking and play. There will be field trips that include swimming and visiting nearby playgrounds.
Quantum Leap will return for their third year at Presidio Hill. This program is focused on developing strategies for independent learning as students move into middle school. This intensive three-week summer program has been successful in helping students become independent learners. Students, working in small groups (5 students maximum), attend four classes daily: Organization/Study Skills, Writing, Reading and Morphology (Spelling). Quantum Leap provides a creative and supportive environment in which students improve their language and independent study skills. June 26–July 14. There will be morning and afternoon sessions.
