"At
Presidio Hill, there is this sense of community in terms of helping kids
develop relationships, understanding differences, working with those
differences, and respecting and cherishing those differences."
Gary Evans brought his daughter to Presidio Hill School in her fourth
grade year. He says that together they found a welcoming community dedicated to
bringing out the best in children with different backgrounds, learning styles,
needs, and interests. “Presidio Hill has the
structure, the relationship with the faculty and parents, that allows kids to
feel very comfortable and feel like they can excel in almost any area,” says
Gary.
For his daughter that has meant a transformation from a somewhat
shy child into someone who is “definitely much more outspoken, outgoing, not
afraid to take risks,” Gary says. He also notes that the school’s approach to
mathematics, in particular, has helped his daughter gain confidence in an area
that was once a challenge. “This school does support a lot of the goals, the
objectives, with an action that’s tangible,” says Gary. “And it’s actually
something that you can see in terms of the results for your child and her
development.”
After being nervous about the unknowns
involved in changing schools, Gary is confident that in coming to Presidio
Hill, he as made the right choice for his daughter. “The school has a history
of seeing kids come in during different grades,” he says, “ And they’ve set up
programs to make the transition a lot easier. I think that’s really good. It’s
paid off for us.”
