Head of School Search

Presidio Hill School Selects Jon Fulk to Be The Head of School
We are delighted to share important and exciting news. After a thoughtful, inclusive, and thorough search process, the Board has unanimously selected Jon Fulk as the next Head of School of Presidio Hill School, beginning July 1, 2026.
This decision reflects months of deep listening, reflection, and collaboration. We are profoundly grateful to the parents and guardians, faculty and staff, students, alumni, and trustees who participated so fully in the search process through surveys, meetings, interviews, campus visits, and open dialogue. Your engagement, insight, and care for the PHS mission shaped every step of the search and were essential in guiding the Board’s decision. Data from the community surveys reinforced our decision–Jon received the highest level of confidence in his overall expertise and experience, and received the highest aggregate scores across all metrics from our community survey.
Jon brings more than 25 years of experience in progressive, mission-driven schools, including 17 years of school leadership in the Bay Area, and 15 years as a Head of School. He currently serves as Head of School at Blue Oak School in Napa.
Jon believes in progressive education as a daily practice grounded in curiosity, relationships, equity, and joyful learning. He is a progressive educator at his core and deeply aligned with Presidio Hill School’s mission to imagine, inquire, and create. Jon is especially committed to building inclusive communities where students and adults feel a strong sense of belonging and shared purpose. His work has included deepening progressive identity, refining learning programs, strategic planning, building leadership teams, optimizing finances and enrollment, and guiding major facilities and capital projects. Jon’s message to the PHS community can be found below, and you can read Jon’s full bio here.
Between now and July 1, 2026, Presidio Hill School will benefit from a thoughtful and collaborative transition period. Lisa Jeli will continue to lead the school through the remainder of the 2025–26 academic year, providing continuity, stability, and care for our community. Lisa and Jon will partner with the Board to ensure a smooth and well-supported transition, creating opportunities for listening, learning, and relationship-building so that Jon is well-prepared to step into the Head of School role next summer. We are deeply grateful to Lisa for her continued leadership and her commitment to PHS during this important time.
We are excited about all that Jon will bring to PHS and confident in his ability to steward the school’s mission while guiding it thoughtfully into its next chapter.
With gratitude and enthusiasm,
The Presidio Hill School Board of Trustees
Message from Jon Fulk
Dear Presidio Hill School Community,
I am deeply honored and absolutely excited to join the Presidio Hill School community as the next Head of School. I am grateful to outgoing Head of School Lisa Jeli for her thoughtful and caring leadership and to the many others who have helped shape this vibrant community I am so fortunate to join.
From the very first moments of the selection process, it was clear to me that the true heart of PHS lies in its people and their clear sense of purpose for learning and life. Presidio Hill is a richly diverse, inclusive, and justice-minded community, and I felt its warmth, care, and authenticity immediately.
I was especially drawn to the way progressive education is not just practiced at PHS, but baked into the bricks of the School’s foundation. Progressive pedagogy and principles are alive in the School’s history, diligently cultivated in its classrooms, and central to its hopes and aspirations for young people. From TK students resolving conflicts on the play yard to middle school students preparing a jazz number for Grandparents and Special Friends Day during their lunch, and fifth graders drafting field notes and drawings from work in the Presidio, I saw real and important learning (the kind that sticks) at every turn.
What inspired me most about PHS was the sincerity of relationships, the resolute mission, and the joyful commitment to helping students imagine, inquire, create, and engage with learning and the world in meaningful ways. I am eager to contribute to this extraordinary community, to learn alongside it, and to help steward PHS’s progressive legacy in a bright and promising second century. I am looking forward to joining the community soon and beginning this work together with joy, gratitude, and much anticipation.
Warmest regards,
Jon
