Volunteer Opportunities

A Day in the Life of Your Child

Presidio Hill relies on parents’ and guardians’ active participation to support the quality of education it provides for our children. Each parent or guardian is asked to provide a minimum of 24 hours of volunteer service to the school each year, or a day in the life of your child.

Presidio Hill’s Parents & Guardians Association (PGA), of which each parent and guardian is a member, coordinates parent/guardian volunteering. The PGA invites parents/guardians to share their talents, creativity and energy with the Presidio Hill community, and there are a variety of volunteer opportunities that arise throughout the school year. Parents/guardians are active in lower-school classrooms, as chaperones on field trips, and in the planning and running of a myriad of annual events and ongoing activities.

Presidio Hill School celebrates a host of special events, which help create a deep sense of community among students, families and staff. As these traditions transpire over seasons and across years, they become the rhythm that keeps time for the school community. Some notable events include:

Spirit Morning

Spirit Morning is the kick-off event of the school year. The PGA Leadership Team, school administrators, board members and room representatives welcome new and veteran parents to a continental breakfast, where they can socialize with friends, meet new families and sign up for volunteer opportunities.

Fall Socials

A series of on campus gatherings, the Fall Socials allow parents/guardians of children in the same and nearby grades to enjoy each other’s company in the relaxed atmosphere of the school lower yard. These adult-only evenings for parents/guardians and school administrators are a wonderful opportunity for our families to reconnect early in the school year as well as to welcome parents/guardians who are new to the Presidio Hill community.

Walkathon

Taking place in the spring, this student-centered fundraiser involves all Presidio Hill students in collecting sponsorships to walk—or run—laps in nearby Presidio Wall Park. This inspiring fundraising event works hand-in-hand with the Development Department to raise money for flexible tuition. This event includes and encourages all students to participate in the spirit of philanthropy.

Grandparents & Special Friends Day

This late-autumn event invites grandparents and special friends of all Presidio Hill students to visit the school. These special guests are treated to a lively morning of refreshments, classroom visits and school presentations.

May Festival (May Fest)

The oldest tradition at Presidio Hill, May Fest is held on the first Sunday in May and brings the entire school together to celebrate poetry and the performing arts. The day starts with outdoor student performances, including a festive maypole dance, followed by lunch and carnival games.
