Distance Learning Details and Sample Lessons
Presidio Hill School will be using a rotation-based schedule for the 2020-21 semester. Rotations will last three to four weeks and, no matter what learning plan we are currently in (hybrid, distance learning, or on campus), the schedule will help manage exposure across classrooms and cohorts, provide structured units for specialist and lead teachers to plan within, and serve as points at which we can transition to or from other learning models.
In Lower School, daily schedules are book-ended by a morning meeting and closing circle, incorporate time for balanced asynchronous and synchronous learning as well as daily small group/one-on-one instruction, and include afternoon specialist classes four days a week. Additionally, there will be supervised lunches and breaks, weekly social-emotional learning lessons, cross-grade and all-school assemblies, and Friday dance parties!
In middle school, students will have opportunities to connect with their teachers one-on-one before and after school in teacher office hours, will participate in daily advisory, will lead weekly lunch clubs, and will have blocks of core classes (Humanities, Math, Science, Spanish) and specialist classes (Art, Music, PE/Lifeskills, Library, and Spanish) so they can dive deeply into lessons without regular class-switching.
