PHS Ready, Set...Back to School Academic Camp!
Presidio Hill School instituted our very first summer academic camp this year– Ready, Set...Back to School–and we have over 80 students in second through eighth grade participating! The goals of this program are to build social connection, welcome new students to PHS, help students get used to being “in school” after time away, build confidence, and strengthen basic skills in key areas of math, writing and reading for their grade level. Sample lessons include a yoga and recipe-creating language arts unit for 2nd/ 3rd grade students, a “Design Your Own Bakery” math project for 4th/ 5th students, “Resistance through Art” for 6th grade humanities students, and much much more.
During the program, students will receive feedback through live informal assessments conducted during synchronous meeting times, 1:1 or small group check ins, and through the Google Classroom private comment feature. Teaching Teams will also share a brief summary with parents/guardians at the end of each week.
Our youngest students spent time during the final week of camp creating a "recipe for success" for our 2020-21 school year:
Thank you to the teachers who are helping our students ramp up for school and to the students and families who are spending cherished summer time participating in the camp–what a wonderful demonstration of the love of learning by both faculty and students!
