A Record-Breaking Walkathon!

Friday, October 15, 2021

We had a record-breaking Walkathon–a fitting kick-off to Presidio Hill's first in person community event since spring 2020!

Students had a wonderful time walking and running with their friends and parent/guardian volunteers and spectators were able to enjoy a gorgeous day in the Presidio Wall Park field! After arriving at the field, each student received water bottles and allergy-friendly snack bags, as well as popsicles after lunch! The day was full of sun, smiles, and support, and we could not have had a better kick-off to our in person events. Thank you to all who made it happen.

PHS's only student-led fundraiser, Walkathon is an opportunity for students to fundraise for our school's flexible tuition program and our fundraising goal includes 100% student participation, no matter how much individuals raise. Fundraising is an incredible way for kids to gain confidence, practice their communication skills, think creatively, express gratitude, and feel GOOD! Students got creative with their fundraising this year - hosting lemonade stands, selling homemade dog treats, and organizing virtual bake sales - and the results were inspiring!

Our students raised $47,381 for the Flexible Tuition Program—an all-time Walkathon RECORD—and collectively walked over 5,000 laps. That’s like walking from PHS to Reno, NV and back!
