Tuition provides approximately 85% of PHS’s annual operating budget, while philanthropy – most significantly the Presidio Hill Fund – contributes another 10%

Tuition ensures a strong foundation, but it is the Presidio Hill Fund that takes PHS from great to exceptional. Gifts make possible the extraordinary teachers and innovative programs that define a PHS education. And unlike tuition, gifts are fully tax-deductible.

​If tuition alone was expected to cover the full operating budget, we would need to increase it significantly—making PHS less accessible and far less reflective of the diverse community that makes our school so vibrant.

The strength of the Presidio Hill Fund reflects the strength of our community. Your contribution–at any level–is a powerful statement of our shared values and belief in the transformative power of a PHS education. 

High participation rates also strengthen our case when seeking support from some foundations and corporations, many of which look to see that our families are deeply invested before giving.

We ask that families give in a way that is proportionate, consistent, and joyful. In the past, gifts have ranged from $25 to $150,000, and, at a small school like PHS, every contribution strengthens our community.

Leadership gifts of $2,500 or more, and major gifts of $10,000 or more, are especially vital. These gifts provide the momentum that allows PHS to dream bigger, invest deeply in our teachers, and sustain the programs that make our school extraordinary. At the same time, broad participation ensures that every family is part of this effort.

Together, our goal this year is to raise $625,000.

The Presidio Hill Fund Campaign runs during the month of October concluding on Giving Day on October 29. 

Making a pledge allows you to confirm your commitment now but fulfill it later on a schedule that works best for your family. We ask that all parents and guardians make their gift or pledge by October 29, when we’ll celebrate our community’s generosity together.

Except in special circumstances, once you have made your gift or pledge, you will not receive additional solicitations from PHS until the following school year. 

Yes! Pledges made by Giving Day on October 29 count right away toward participation, even if your gift is fulfilled later in the school year.

Absolutely. We deeply appreciate gifts of every size and we encourage all families to give at a level that feels meaningful to them.

Many employers match charitable contributions made by their employees–sometimes doubling or even tripling your impact. The request must be initiated by the donor, but it usually only takes a few minutes.
